One such site is located in the business district of San Isidro. Rising over many of the surrounding residential and commercial buildings is the impressive pyramid structure of the Huallamarca Temple. Standing at 21 meters 69 feet high the Temple of Huallamarca dates back to the period of Lima culture from 150 to 600 AD Fascinating Museum exhibits on site many of the artifacts that were recovered from the temple including a well preserved mummy I thought they date back more of 800 years. In total, more than 150 mummies were recovered at the scene, including four last year.
Like most major cities, Lima has an abundance of great museums to visit. One of the best has to be the Larco Museum located in the Pueblo Libre neighborhood of the city. Situated in a mansion the viceroy of the 18th century, the Larco Museum offers one of the most comprehensive panoramas of all known history of Peru, spanning about 3,000 years. The museum has 8 permanent exhibitions: lithics, the safe, gold and jewels, metals, cultures, ceramics and textiles, as well as a rather unusual but interesting exhibition of erotic art. Visitors are also allowed to enter the museums of the exclusive storage area, where literally hundreds of thousands of artifacts are cataloged and stored.
